Police General Diary (GD) entries for non-cognizable offenses (lost items, minor disputes) are downloadable via state CCTNS citizen portals. If portal shows "Record Not Found," officer may have given fake GD number.

Accessing State Portals

Search: "[State] police citizen portal" or "[State] CCTNS"

Examples:

  • UP: cctns.uppolice.gov.in
  • TN: eservices.tnpolice.gov.in

Register: Create citizen account with mobile

Download GD Entry

Navigate to "View GD" or "Service Request Status"

Enter: District, Police Station, Year, GD Number (from receipt/SMS)

Download: Digitally signed PDF of General Diary entry

If Record Not Found

Possible causes:

  • Fake GD number given by officer
  • Entry in "Rough Register" not official GD

Action: RTI immediately

"Certified copy of General Diary Entry No. [X] dated [Y] at [Police Station]"

If no such entry exists, file complaint against officer for fraud.

Use CCTNS portals to verify GD authenticity. Record not found = fake entry or rough register misuse.
